LIFE 4 POLLINATORS has been co-financed from the LIFE programme which is the funding instrument of the European Union for the environment and climate action. It has been created in 1992 basically to enhance the implementation of the Bird and Habitat Directive.

In 2017 LIFE scope was the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation. It was subdivided into two sub-programme one for ENVIRONMENT and one for CLIMATE ACTION.

The one for ENVIRONMENT included three different strands:
    •    Environment and resource efficiency traditional projects (ENV)
    •    Nature and biodiversity traditional projects (NAT)
    •    Environmental governance and information traditional projects (GIE)

In 2018 the call was in two steps: Concept note and Full Proposal.
Only the best projects get funded.
LIFE 4 POLLINATORS is a GIE Project funded within LIFE’s 2017 call.

It has been delayed and its duration increased by one year because of the SarsCov2 crisis.
